Castanea Associates was founded in 2007 by Allison Aurand to provide technical and policy support on agricultural and rural issues to government agencies, non-profit organizations, and individuals. These services include farm succession planning for farm families, conservation strategies for communities and individuals, rural land use planning and policy development, lobbying, and community education strategies for rural issues. Castanea Associates expanded its services in 2008 with the addition of partner Erick Aurand. The company now offers assistance in obtaining local, state, and federal agency permits; mitigation project design, development, and implementation; construction project coordination and management; and drainage, stormwater, and natural watercourse management. |

Whether you need an H.P.A., a Corps permit, or just a local agency permit we know the process and have the contacts to acquire permits with as little pain as possible. The various environmental agencies often require you to include a mitigation component in your project before granting a permit. What this mitigation comprises is always negotiable. We can negotiate a mitigation package that is agreeable to both sides. We have designed and built many watercourse management projects. These include stormwater drainage / detention systems, streambank stabilization projects, fish habitat enhancement projects, and hydraulic constraint improvements. It is often an advantage to have someone oversee a project from start to finish. We can provide project coordination and management from initial design, through permitting, through construction completion. |
